With a natural birth, the baby comes into the world through the birth canal. The birth canal is spiral shaped. The baby actively twists and turns while the contractions help to move it through the canal.

We know today, the baby's effort is at least 50% of the required driving force. This cooperation during the birth is fundamental, because this is the child's first active effort in life. The baby needs to do this work or else it will lack an essential proactive effort required for the beginning of life. In addition, the head (home of the brain and central nervous system) and the back (home of the spinal chord along with the nervous system) are intensively massaged, and thus receive strong impulses which activate the entire nervous system. These important actions are bypassed with a planned cesarean section without contractions. A cesarean birth following the effort of labor with contractions allows at least a part of this stimulation to occur. In the case of a birth using a vacuum or forceps, the baby's head is exposed to intensive pressure, and the natural screw movement of the baby through the birth canal gets interrupted. In addition, the strong pressure of these tools on the tender skull of the baby can cause painful tension.

In the following presentation I will often refer to the craniosacral and the osteopathic therapies. In my opinion, they are the best choice for treatment of children that have suffered traumatic or unnatural births (cesarean section).
In most cases, only 1-4 sessions of either of these therapies are necessary.
